By road
Vellore lies on National Highway 48, the Chennai–Bengaluru highway, so the drive from either city is direct. From Vellore town, follow signs for Sripuram or the Golden Temple. The temple has its own parking bays.

By train
- Katpadi Junction is the main railway station for Vellore. It is on the Chennai–Bengaluru main line and also has trains towards Tirupati. Most long-distance visitors arrive here. Distance to Sripuram: about 15 km by road.
- Vellore Cantonment is closer, at about 8 km by road, but has far fewer trains.

By bus
Long-distance government and private buses arrive at the Vellore New Bus Stand, about 12 km by road from Sripuram. Government buses can be reserved on the TNSTC website. From the bus stand, continue by town bus, auto-rickshaw or taxi.
By air
- Chennai International Airport: about 135 km by road. The widest choice of domestic and international flights.
- Tirupati Airport: about 130 km by road. Convenient if you are also visiting Tirumala.
From either airport, hire a taxi, or travel to a railway station and continue by train to Katpadi.

Local transport and the last few kilometres
Auto-rickshaws, taxis and app-based cabs operate in Vellore and at Katpadi, and town buses connect Vellore with the Sripuram area. Ask at the bus stand for the current route to Sripuram or Thirumalaikodi.

Fares for autos and taxis vary with the time of day, demand and negotiation. If the vehicle has no meter or app fare, agree the price before you start. For the return journey after evening darshan, arrange transport before you go in, because your phone will be in the cloak room.
