What to carry

Independent planning guidance

Carry as little as possible: cash for cloak room charges, prasadam and any seva; your vehicle key; essential medicines in a small pouch; and a light shawl. Write emergency phone numbers on paper, because your phone stays in the cloak room.

Guidance from this website, not an official temple rule.

What not to carry

Official temple information

Strictly prohibited on the premises: Mobile phones, electronic gadgets, cameras, smoking, pets, inflammable articles, packed food from outside, tobacco products (including zarda, pan and pan masala), knives, scissors and other sharp objects, and backpacks, big bags, suitcases and trolleys.

Official temple information Source: Official Sripuram website: Do's and don'ts. Last verified 1 October 2026.

The cloak room at the entrance takes phones, bags and footwear for a small charge (see cloak room). Suitcases and trolleys are prohibited, so leave them at your hotel or in your vehicle.

Dress code

Official temple information

Men: dhoti with a shawl, kurtas, trousers or shirts. Women: sarees, salwar kameez or kurtas. At least short sleeves. Not allowed: sleeveless tops, low-cut garments, shorts or skirts above the knee, hats and caps inside.

The dress code guide separates the official rules from general advice, including for children and elderly visitors.

What happens during a visit

  1. Park in a designated bay and deposit phones, bags and footwear at the cloak room.
  2. Pass security. On Fridays to Sundays you can choose the Divya Darshan Seva.
  3. Walk the Star Path through the queue complexes and gardens. The official website describes seating, drinking water and restrooms in the queue complex.
  4. Darshan of Sri Lakshmi Narayani in the gold-covered sanctum.
  5. The prasadam counter is near the temple exit. Sri Narayani Temple is across the road, about a three-minute walk according to the official recommendations.

Star Path

The temple is approached through a star-shaped path with twelve vertices, which the official website likens to the Sri Chakra. Messages on spiritual themes are displayed along both sides. The official temple information does not currently give a precise pathway length; some secondary references describe the route as more than 1.8 km.

How long to plan

Independent planning guidance

Visit duration can vary considerably depending on crowd levels, security procedures, walking time and the day's arrangements. For planning purposes, allow several hours rather than assuming that darshan will take a fixed amount of time, and more on weekends, public holidays and festival days.

Guidance from this website, not an official temple rule.

This website has no first-hand visitor observations yet, so it does not publish waiting times.

Accessibility

Official temple information

The official website lists wheelchairs at the entrance, with escorts, describes the temple as disabled-friendly, and states that a qualified medical practitioner with a first-aid kit is available on the temple premises.

Official temple information Source: Official Sripuram website: Facilities. Last verified 1 October 2026.

The official website does not state how many wheelchairs there are, or describe ramps or shade along the route. Ask at the entrance or the PRO office (8:00 AM to 9:00 PM). Practical advice is in visiting with elderly family members and visiting with children.

Parking

Official temple information

Common mistakes

  1. Arriving before 8:00 AM expecting darshan. Official general darshan starts at 8:00 AM.
  2. Arriving close to 8:00 PM. Darshan closes at 8:00 PM, and the Divya Darshan Seva at 7:30 PM.
  3. Bringing a backpack or suitcase. These are prohibited on the premises.
  4. Wearing shorts, sleeveless tops or a cap. These fall outside the official dress code.
  5. Paying someone for "special darshan". The temple asks visitors not to pay staff, priests or volunteers. Book only at official counters or on the official website.
  6. Not agreeing a meeting point. Without phones, a separated group has no easy way to reconnect.
