Interstate taxis
Independent planning guidance
A Karnataka-registered taxi entering Tamil Nadu generally needs an interstate permit or tax. Ask your operator whether this, tolls and the driver's allowance are included in the quoted fare, so that there are no surprises at the end of the trip.

Day trip or overnight?
Independent planning estimate
With 8 to 10 hours of travel in total, a same-day return is tiring, especially for elderly travellers or young children. Staying one night in Vellore lets you visit the temple without rushing and avoids driving at night.
Not an official temple estimate.
Ideas for structuring the visit are on the itineraries page. For somewhere to stay, see accommodation.
The return journey
City traffic on the way back into Bengaluru can add time to the drive. Leave a margin if you have a connection to make.
