What to expect
Independent planning guidance
Queue arrangements are managed by temple staff and volunteers, and how long you have in front of the deity depends on the day's arrangements. Follow their directions, and decide on your prayer before you reach the sanctum.
Guidance from this website, not an official temple rule.
The official website recommends reading the messages along the Star Path, sitting for a while and praying in silence as you walk. See the Star Path.

Independent planning guidance
Be cautious of websites, social media accounts or people outside the temple offering "VIP darshan", guaranteed seva slots or prasadam delivery. If it is not on the official website or at an official counter, assume it is not official. This guide never takes bookings or payments.

Understanding the rituals
The terms below are part of temple worship across South India. These are general explanations, not a description of Sripuram's daily schedule, which the official website does not publish.
- Abhishekam
- Ritual bathing of the deity with substances such as milk, curd, honey, sandal paste and water, accompanied by chanting. Listed at Sripuram as the Abhishekha Pooja seva.
- Archana
- Offering of the deity's names with flowers, kumkum or tulasi. Several archana sevas are listed at Sripuram.
- Alankaram
- Adorning the deity with clothing, jewellery and flowers. The Pushpa Alankara Seva sponsors a flower decoration.
- Arati
- Waving lit lamps before the deity. The Maha Arthi is listed among Sripuram's sevas.
- Yagam or homa
- A fire ritual with offerings and Vedic chanting, such as the Full Moon Yagam and Sri Mahalakshmi Maha Yagam.
- Prasadam
- Food or items offered to the deity and then received by devotees as a blessing. At Sripuram it is sold at the counter near the temple exit.
Devotees visit Sripuram as a place of prayer to Mahalakshmi, the goddess associated with prosperity and well-being. Explanations of meaning above reflect widely held tradition, not claims made by this guide.
